Common sense from our Queen Silvia

Drottning Silvia har hårt kritiserats för sina uttalanden under en frågestund bland Förenta Nationernas diplomatfruar i New York, arrangerat av Womens International Forum. Sveriges Radios nyhetsredaktion kallade hennes uttalanden för "klavertramp", trots att vad hon sa egentligen är sunt förnuft.

Silvia berättade om sitt engagemang för utsatta barn och om det arbete hon själv bedriver i den egna stiftelsen World Childhood Foundation. Efter talet var det öppet att ställa frågor från auditoriet. Hon fick då av en okänd person en fråga som hon uppfattade som: "Vad skulle Drottningen säga till barn som kastar sten." Eftersom det är aktuellt med stenkastande palestinska barn så syftade frågan på dem. Drottningen svarade: "Som mor skulle jag tala med barnen och säga att det är farligt att kasta sten. Men jag har ibland en känsla av att sådana saker är organiserade av andra."

Palestinierna reagerade med ilska och vrede över drottningens okunnighet. Israelerna tackade henne för att någon utifrån vågade säga sanningen.

Training children to fight the hated Zionist enemy

According to the Palestinians, over 40 children have been killed in the waves of violence and confrontations that began at the end of September. They have been killed in the front lines, providing cover for the armed Palestinian militias with machine guns and other weapons seeking to overwhelm isolated Israeli guard posts. The outnumbered Israeli soldiers, defending the civilians behind these outposts, cannot see the children through the small slits and openings (as was clearly the case at the Netzarim crossing in Gaza). The tragic images of these young victims provide first-rate propaganda to use against Israel. Interviewed by journalists after these tragedies, some parents of these young victims refer to their children as "shaheeds" (martyrs), whose lives were given willingly and proudly to the Palestinian cause in fighting the hated Zionist enemy. In a scene that was unbelievably shocking, one mother boasted that she bore her son precisely for this purpose, and the father proudly claimed credit for providing the training. (The parents will also receive a sizeable financial "reward" from the Palestinian Authority.)
